Göteborg-metallin pioneeri Pagandom julkaisee paluualbuminsa lokakuussa: mukana At The Gatesin Anders Björler

Göteborg-metallin pioneeri Pagandom julkaisee uuden ”Hurt As A Shadow” -kakkosalbuminsa lokakuun 28. päivä Sonyn osaomistaman Gain Music Entertainmentin kautta. Yhtyeen ”Crushtime”-niminen debyyttialbumi ilmestyi 1994, ja se lopetti toimintansa kaksi vuotta julkaisun jälkeen ennen uudelleenaktivoitumistaan 2013. ”THE GOTHENBURG SOUND is a subgenre of heavy metal that is loved by millions of fans worldwide. The authors are primarily found in the bands AT THE GATES, DARK TRANQUILLITY and IN FLAMES. Their melodic death metal with elements of folk music, along with among others such as Progressive Evergrey, party rockin HARDCORE SUPERSTAR and the heavy metal band HAMMERFALL have all together put Gothenburg on the map as one of the planet’s strongest and most innovative hard rocking cities.

But before there was a sound from Gothenburg to speak of, at a time when members of the seminal bands just picked up their instruments and began the long journey towards international success, there was a band named PAGANDOM …

When the 80s turned into the 90s PAGANDOM only had released a couple of demo tapes. Despite this they played at clubs and youth centers to burst and knock down the audience with their captivating technical thrash metal and its socially critical lyrics.

The young rockers in PAGANDOM was regarded as the hometown METALLICA.

PAGANDOM proved that it was possible to write high-quality songs and create something unique that was exactly the same class as the genre’s major stars from the States.

Todays known Gothenburg musicians have testified about how nervous they were when they came across someone in PAGANDOM down town or in any music store. How those with shaky legs finally ventured out for an autograph.That’s how people felt for PAGANDOM and the band was that important for them.

One of the aspiring celebrities that were in place for many gigs, sometimes with a video camera on the shoulder to document the local superstars was the guitarist and songwriter Anders Björler. A few years later, Anders achieved international notoriety with his band At The Gates.

PAGANDOM dissolved in 1996, just a few years after the band’s first and so far only full-length album. 20 years later it is time again. The band reuinited at the Gothenburg Sound Festival 2014, reinforced with the same Anders Björler on guitar. Anders also brings his genius to PAGANDOMs new album.

Without PAGANDOM the Gothenburg Sound we know today probably had sounded different. All stories have a beginning – and it is now time for the world to take part in a new relevant chapter. Welcome ”Hurt As A Shadow”!  I already have goose bumps.”
