Gary Holt ajatuksesta Slayerin comebackista: ”Jos tapahtuu, sillä ei ole mitään tekemistä minun kanssani”
Yhdysvaltalainen thrash metal -veteraani Slayer soitti pitkän uransa viimeisen keikan viime vuoden marraskuussa Los Angelesissa. Moni on veikannut yhtyeen tauon kestävän vain muutaman vuoden ennen comeback-keikkoja, mutta yhtyeeseen vuonna 2011 liittynyt kitaristi Gary Holt on kertonut Let There Be Talk -podcastissa, että yhtye ei ole aikeissa palata takaisin keikkalavoille. Hänen mielestään yhtyeen täytyy pitää päätöksestä kiinni, ja ura laitettiiin nippuun tyylillä. Jäsenet ovat sittemmin keskittyneet omiin tekemisiinsä, ja kitaristin mukaan kaikki ovat onnellisia nykyisessä tilanteessa. Holt kertoi:
”To my knowledge, to what I know, it was the final show. People say, ’Oh, maybe they’ll come back in a few years.’ I don’t know. If it does, if it ever happens, it has nothing to do with me. Someone else would call and say, ’We wanna do this.’ To my knowledge, it’s done. And I think it should be that way. The band went out fucking on a bang, went out on SLAYER’s terms, and how many people get to say they did that?
