Anthraxin Scott Ian: ”terroristit eivät määrittele meidän aikatauluja”
Yhdysvaltalaisen thrash metalin Big Four -yhtyeisiin lukeutuvan Anthraxin kitaristi Scott Ian on antanut hiljattain varsin mielenkiintoisen haastattelun The Irish Sunille, jossa pohtii Pariisissa tapahtuneiden terroristi-iskujen vaikutusta oman yhtyeensä toimintaan. Scott on haastattelussa pohtinut aihetta ja kertonut yhtyeen pyrkivän aina soittamaan sovitut keikkansa vaikeuksista huolimatta. Ianin mukaan koska hän ei voi muuttaa toiselle planeetallekaan terroristeja pakoon ainut keino on soittaa sovitut keikat ja ehkäpä kirjoittaa kappale tai parikin aiheeseen liittyen. ”Anytime a terrorist action happens like that, in any context, because we’re all human, we all have to share this planet, so I get it,” he said. ”They crossed the line into the world of rock.
”When people say it hits closer to home, or does it hit closer to home, I understand that. But it hits close enough to home because we’re all people that have to live on the same planet. That’s close enough for me, and the fact that I have to live on the same planet as people with these ideals, that’s too close.

Anthrax oli samaan aikaan Euroopassa Slayerin kanssa Pariisin iskun tapahtuessa mutta yhtyeet kieltäytyvät perumasta keikkoja ja soittivat kiertueen sovitusti loppuun asti toisin kuin esimerkiksi Lamb Of God sekä Deftones. Scott Ian kertoi päätöksestä soittaa keikat vaikeuksista huolimatta seuraavaa:
”We didn’t go home, ANTHRAX and SLAYER. ”We didn’t leave, and we finished our tour. Unless somebody was going to tell us ’You can’t play the rest of your shows,’ that was the only way we weren’t going to finish.

And I believe there might have been a time we were scheduled to go to Indonesia and the same thing happened. They said the climate just wasn’t right. If somebody’s telling you that, you listen to them. A year later, we went and played Jakarta, so it’s not something we’re actively thinking about.”
