Sooloalbumin julkaiseva Nita Strauss: ”Halusin tehdä albumin omilla ehdoillani”
Backstage Axxessin Kris Englehart haastatteli hiljattain Alice Cooperin kitaristina tunnettua Nita Straussia. ”Controlled Chaos” -nimisen sooloalbumin julkaiseva Strauss avaa haastattelussa muun muassa sitä, miksei hän tahtonut levy-yhtiötä taakseen debyyttialbuminsa tekoprosessiin.
Strauss kertoo, että suurimman osan urastaan hän on soittanut muiden tekemää musiikkia ja tehnyt asiat muiden tahtomalla tavalla. Siitä syystä hän ei oman albuminsa kohdalla halunnut kysellä levy-yhtiön hyväksyntää asioille. Nainen painottaa haluavansa tehdä albumin täysin omilla ehdoillaan ja juuri siten kuin hän itse haluaa. ”That’s the hugest part and really the main reason why I did it this way. Again, it goes back to I spent most of my career playing other people’s music and doing it the way they wanted it done. So, as I step out and take these first steps on this journey to do my own thing, I didn’t want to have to get anybody’s approval on anything. I didn’t want to have to ask a record label ’Is this okay for the album cover? What time do you think I should go on tour this year?’ I wanted to make this record on my own terms and do it the way I wanted to do it.”
