Deep Purplen Ian Gillan kritisoi päätöstä jättää kaksi bändin nykyistä jäsentä pois Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Famesta
Rock-musiikin elävä legenda Deep Purple on vihdoin nimetty Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Famen jäseneksi. Laulaja Ian Gillan on kuitenkin kritisoinut blogissaan päätöstä jättää yhtyeen nykyinen kitaristi Steve Morse ja kosketinsoittaja Don Airey Hall of Famen ulkopuolelle. Deep Purplen nimissä Hall of Fameen nimettiin Gillan, kitaristi Ritchie Blackmore, kosketinsoittaja Jon Lord (R.I.P.), basisti Roger Glover, rumpali Ian Paice, laulaja David Coverdale, basisti/laulaja Glenn Hughes ja laulaja Rod Evans. Heistä Gillan, Glover ja Paice vaikuttavat Deep Purplen riveissä edelleen. Nykyinen kitaristi Steve Morse tuli mukaan vuonna 1994 Blackmoren lähdettyä omille teilleen ja Don Airey taas otti kosketinsoittajan paikan vuonna 2002 Jon Lordin lähdettyä yhtyeestä. Gillanin mielestä heidän pois jättäminen on todella typerää ja hän vertaa sitä saamaansa hääkutsuun, jossa hänen perhettään ei kutsuttu paikalle ja häntä vaadittiin istumaan exänsä vieressä.

And….what a coincidence…This morning I got an invitation to a wedding from some dear old friends. Unfortunately my family was not invited and they said that I would be required to sit next to my ex (we divorced decades ago) at the wedding feast.
