Fear Factoryn Dino Cazares ei ymmärrä järjetöntä kohua takaisinpaluun ja varainkeruukampanjan ympärillä

Fear Factoryn kitaristi Dino Cazares on puolustanut päätöstä aloittaa GoFundMe-kampanja. Varainkeruukampanjan tarkoituksena on rahoittaa yhtyeen kauan odotetun uuden albumin tuotantokuluja.

Viime viikolla yhtyeen laulaja Burton C. Bell julkaisi Facebookissa ja Instagramissa päivityksen, jossa hän kertoi ettei ole osallisena eikä ole hyötynyt varainkeruukampanjasta. Hän lisäsi päivitykseensä hashtagin #fearfactory. Julkaisu johti suureen hämmennykseen yhtyeen fanien keskuudessa, sillä Cazares oli jo ilmoittanut, että Bellin vokaaleja tullaan kuulemaan tulevalla levyllä.

Bellin perjantaisen (11. syyskuuta) lausunnon jälkeen, jossa hän selvitti osallisuuttaan ulkopuolisten lahjoitusten pyytämisessä, osa yhtyeen somefaneista alkoi syyttää Cazaresia epärehellisyydestä kampanjan rahojen käyttötarkoituksesta. Bell viittasi julkaisussaan, että Cazares haki avustusta lakimaksujen kuluihin ja kutsui tämän varainkeruuta ”huijaukseksi”.

Maanantaina (14. syyskuuta) Cazares rauhoitteli faneja sosiaalisessa mediassa oikaisemalla GoFundMe-kampanjalla kerättyjen varojen käyttötarkoitusta. Hän kertoi, että varat käytetään yhtyeen uuden albumin tekemiseen, ja lopussa hän ilmaisi innostuksensa uuden LP:n tulosta.

Dino kirjoitti:

”Despite what you may have heard about the Fear Factory GoFundMe page, it is not a scam or created to pay anyone’s personal legal fees. A lot of people have jumped on the negative bandwagon that some of you fail to see the truth. I’ve taken some of the harshest criticism about me, some coming from the members of the band, some from ex members of the band and from the fans. I don’t understand why (there is) all this senseless drama, because at the end of the day, we all want the same thing and that is to enjoy badass Fear Factory record that is going to benefits us all.

I’m going to tell you the truth about this album. Three years ago, in 2017, we finished a album that was given to the record company complete with artwork. This record may have ever seen the light of the day because of all the legal issues that we’re surrounding the right to the Fear Factory name. After I regained my full rights to the name, i decided to take this three-year-old album and make some much-needed improvements. Thanks to all the donations that we’ve received so far we’re able to hire the same production crew that we’ve had on ’Genexus’.

All I want to do is make this record the best record it could be with some amazing people working on it. It deserves a killer production to make this classic FF album. I’m so excited for everyone to hear it because it really sounds amazing.

Varainkeruukampanja on yhtyeen ensimmäinen julkinen toiminta sitten vuoden 2016 kiertueen Yhdysvalloissa.

Marraskuussa 2018 pidetyssä haastattelussa Bell kertoi, että Fear Factory on saanut valmiiksi uuden albumin, joka kulki alustavasti nimellä ”Monolith”. Hän kertoi, että ”oikeudelliset tekniset seikat” on selvitettävä ennen levyn julkaisua.

Toukokuussa 2017 yhtye oli eroamishuhupuheiden kohteena, kun entinen basisti-kitaristi Christian Olde Wolbers julkaisi Instagramissa poistetun muistopuheen yhtyeelle. Hän kirjoitti ”Rip Fear Factory” ja lisäsi julkaisuun hashtagin #GrownAssMenThatCantWorkOutShit.
