Flaw-leirissä kiehuu: Bändin kitaristi jätti yhtyeen
Yhdysvaltalaisen metalliyhtye Flaw:n rivistössä on tapahtunut muutoksia. Bändin alkuperäinen kitaristi Jason Daunt on jättänyt yhtyeen bändin laulajan Chris Volzin alkoholiin liittyvien ongelmien seurauksena. Jason on julkaissut lähtöönsä liittyen virallisen tiedotteen ja voit lukea sen tästä:
“I was going to wait a few more days as I had been asked about a month ago when I informed Chris I would be leaving Flaw and starting a new band with Cory Britt, Ryan Jurhs, Tommy Gibbons and Corey Sturgill, but it appears Chris‘s drinking and lies have forced my announcement sooner.
I decided to leave Flaw not only because Chris and his drinking had gotten out of control to the point I was having to prepare new musicians every tour as they would quit each time Volz pulled one of his drunken I think I’m GI Joe stunts I could go further into the issues but those who know us know the rest.
I thought it would be handled more professionally and without the lies as I was nice enough to hold off announcing I was leaving and the band I created. I guess some things will never change but I should have known that. I appreciate all the fan support and even though it’s not warranted I still wish my old friend Chris the best of luck.
As for myself it was simply time to move on and I have been working with the aforementioned musicians on the new project tentatively entitled Scars Of The Unbroken. Cory Britt from Breathing Theory is currently laying vocals and we should have samples up soon. The members of this new band are the most talented group I have ever worked with in the writing process and I can’t wait 2 push this forward. More to come soon much love.”
Yhtyeen laulajalla Chris Volzilla tuntuu olevan lähdöstä hieman erilainen kuva ja Chrisin näkemyksen voit lukea tästä:
“Hi Flaw Family, I hope you are all well. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to make an official statement about the recent member changes and clarify some issues FLAW has gone through over the years. As most of you know, I have devoted my life to this project and music as a whole for the past 20+ years.
Let me say with all sincerity, music is my true love and passion, but it is also one of the hardest things I have EVER done, one of the hardest industries to break into, and stay relevant in, period, for many different reasons. When we started this project over 2 decades ago we were all in our early 20’s, and didn’t have a care in the world besides music and this band.
As the years went by many things happened to all of us. People get married, people have kids, people change, people get tired of touring constantly, people get tired of making mediocre money and squeezing by on bills, people lose their drive to succeed in a certain industry…..etc. This happens to all bands, as you can easily see by looking at any genre of music. You really have to love it more than you love yourself in some ways.
The industry has changed SO much in the past 20 years, and it has been a true test to adapt with it. There are so many variables that come into play when a group of people decide to start a project or band together. You become full fledged business partners. There are many sacrifices that must be made equally by each party involved. You spend a lot of time away from home and your loved ones, I have personally averaged being away from home for 9 months out of the year, for the past 20 years.
It has wreaked havoc on my personal life and relationships, and affected my family life as well, but it was necessary to succeed. You are in a very close quarter environment for long periods of time with the others in said band, and that can cause problems with even the very best of friends. You are also not making much money most of the time so you are financially stressed out a lot, and that can lead to problems in business and home life.
Without your better half also working while you are on the road touring, it is virtually impossible to stay afloat and cover your bills back home. I won’t name names, but I will never fault you for leaving because you can’t afford to tour anymore and need to make more money for your family. Essentially, all of these things, when compounded, can cause division, animosity, and ultimately lead to dissention that causes some people to lose the passion they once had for the profession or band.
There is no secret to success in this industry, you just really have to want it more than anything else that can and will try to get in the way. So my point in all of this is to explain that there is no one to blame, it is what it is, and I hold no hard feelings towards any of my guys who have made the decision to walk away. Everyone has their own reasons, situations, and life experiences that lead them to make the decision to stop touring, playing with a band, or playing music professionally. However, I am not one of them.
No matter what difficulties come into play, I will always persevere. Improvise, adapt, and overcome is all I know. There have been many fill in members of FLAW over the years, and that is okay. There are so many talented musicians out there and I have developed a skill over the years in recognizing people who can write amazing music that I can thrive off of lyrically. This is where we are today.
I am not willing to let someone become a ‘full’ member of this band until they have proven that they can withstand the hardships of this job and life, and have worked on new music or written an album with me. It is not personal, I just have to protect the mission and message of this band with all my will. To the ones who have come and gone, I wish you the best as always.
To the ones who are soon to come, I wish us only luck and success in our new adventures. This band is a team and a family, and I will do my best to make our creations the best they can possibly be, for us and our listeners. To the Flaw Family and all our fans, I will stay true to the message in my lyrics, as I have for the past 2 decades, and will never give up. FLAW will always persevere because of you, and because the message is true, positive, and needs to be heard.
No guitar player, or bass player, or drummer alone has ever made FLAW what it is today. It has always been a cohesive group of musicians working together on the same page, towards the same goal, regardless of the specific individual. It has and always will be a positive message, mixed with passion and talent, coupled with raw emotion, delivered in the most profound musical manner possible.

After that I am also putting out another solo record which I am very excited about. In closing, I wish to express my extreme gratitude to all our fans who have made this possible, and to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey for over the past 20 years, over 12 different members.
You know who you are, and you will always be a part of the FLAW story, development, and legacy. The journey is far from over and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store….. See you all very soon on tour, we are booked solid all the way through March of 2018 and not slowing down after that! -Only The Strong Survive!!!
