Lacuna Coilin Christina Scabbia: ”Tämä on erittäin synkkää aikaa musiikille sekä ylipäänsä taiteelle”

Koronaviruksen tuoma epätietoisuus tulevasta on sysännyt monet eri alat ahdinkoon. Musiikkialaan virus iski erityisen pahasti, sillä kun suuremmat tapahtumat ja kokoontumiset ovat kiellettyjä lähes jokaisessa maassa Euroopassa, tippuvat myös muusikoiden toimeentulot varsin olemattomiksi, kun suurin osa tuloista tulee nykyään keikkailusta. Italialaisen metalliyhtye Lacuna Coilin laulaja Christina Scabbia on antanut hiljattain Kerrang!:lle haastattelun, jossa paljastaa bändin ennakoineen koronaviruksen pahentumisen ja peruuttaneen kiertueensa jo hyvissä ajoin saadakseen omia rahojaan takaisin. Christina kertoi musiikkialan sekä oman bändinsä tilanteesta seuraavaa:

”Yes, it’s a very dark time for music and arts. It is frustrating and it’s sad, but we’re all in the same boat. It is madness because you have to consider that the livelihood of a band now is mostly on the road. That’s where you get the majority of your income, which you need to survive and keep on working.

We were able to think ahead and cancel flights and tours, because we projected the situation. We thought ahead and thought about our health and the health of our friends.

I know other bands that have lost a huge amount of money and it will be hard to get back on track because it will not get back to normal all at once. Fans might not have a lot of money because they didn’t work. It will be really hard but I’m staying positive because once you touch the bottom, you can only go up.”
