Metallica tarjoaa paikalliselle bändille mahdollisuuden lämmitellä keikkaansa Mexico Cityssä

Yhdysvaltalainen thrash metal -jätti Metallica on uransa aikana antanut tukensa uusille sekä nouseville bändeille eri puolilla maailmaa. Vuosi sitten bändin laulaja James Hetfield oli lisännyt Spotify soittolistalleen Oranssi Pazuzun kappaleita.

Metallica jatkaa kannustavaa asennettaan, kun ottaa Mexico City -konserttien lämmittelijäksi paikallisia bändejä kilpailun kautta. Tapahtumassa esiintyy myös legendaarinen rokkari Iggy Pop, mutta tilaa löytyy vielä yhdelle esiintyjälle.

Yhtye kertoo kotisivuillaan kuinka nauttii paikallisten bändien seurasta liikkuessaan ympäri maailmaa. Metallica haluaa toistaa Kööpenhaminassa toteuttamaansa tapaa, jossa fanit saavat päättää lämmittelijäksi nousevan bändin.

Bändin tiedotti uutisestaan:

We’re having a blast hanging out with the best of the local music scene as we zig-zag across the globe, so just as we did with the recent run in Copenhagen and in some of our favorite Latin American countries in the Fall of last year, we’re asking you to choose who you want to see take the stage first in Mexico City. As you may know, our friend and musical icon Iggy Pop will be joining us there, but there’s plenty of room for one more act!

Here’s how it works: Local bands may submit a video (YouTube or SoundCloud links) to contactoocesa@cie.com.mx with the name of each band member, an e-mail address, phone number and city of residence. Please submit your videos before February 20th at 7:00 PM CST. All performers do need to be Mexican residents, currently active as a band, play on a regular basis and of course be available to perform on one of the show days, March 1st, 3rd, or 5th.

A panel of local music industry professionals will choose fifty finalists who will be posted here for fans around the world to have the final say on by voting starting Tuesday, February 21st through Friday, February 24th, Three winners will be revealed here on Monday, February 27th.
