Here is to the best wishes and everything we should have sent out directly before new years. Here is to hoping you all had a great night without too much of the drinks and drives or drinks and rides… well, without ruining the party, of course. Here is to all of you being safe and lovely. And here is to all of the bands that made the last year great.

We begin this new year free from the holds that have held us for the the past 2… not to mention the 3 prior to our music releasing. We are very happy and want to start this new year right.
Portugal, of Alaska and Oregon, The Man, will be entering the studio on January 20th with our good friends Kirk and Phil up in Seattle. New album begins with a new year, and not only that, self funded! At this point we plan on a self release… this shall last about as long as long as our ”life savings” can stretch So. This is the first time Portugal will be heading into a studio with complete control of its own destiny… I must say I really really REALLY love the word ”Destiny”. Soooo Fantasy. I feel like we should be slaying dragons… That being said. Thank you for all your support and love throughout the last two years. Now your support will matter most. There is no label to take 85% of our work. This is fully ours. I hope all of you understand how important we know downloading to be and how much we fully back it. We still encourage it in every way. BUT. BUUUUUUUUUUUT. These bands and artists and groups that are leaving the banked backing of the label homes are the ones that truly need your support. It will help us to continue free of reins and help us all to find deals that are more artist friendly. So, if you can support people like Saul Williams, and people like us, then do so. We feel very fortunate to be able to do this.
Ha. I know how lame that all sounds and I know how often I go on label rants and downloading rants but fuck it. We know why we are here and we know you know why we know we are here. Its all about love. And it is all about taking it away from those who control it. It is art and it should be free. If you love it and live for it, you should help out in what ways you can. Always. And I should also say, not every label is in it for the wrong reasons. Here’s to Ezra at Slowdance! there are many more… not many… a couple… He just popped into my head…

Buy at farmers markets, shop at local your local grocery stores, treat eachother with respect, ride a bike, take public transporters, buy independent as much as possible, love, don’t steal, AND don’t shop at Wal*Mart… I know, I know, they are sooo cheap! The deals keep coming… only at the expensive of the manufacturer. Remember, if you really love those cheap pickles, you may want to support your local pickle supply Keep the money within the country so we can use it to help the less fortunate here and elsewhere. We have more than enough of it bleeding out through this awful war.
OH YEAH! Here’s to one more year! Better get out and be a voter voting!
