Ruotsalainen pop metallia soittava Amaranthe kiertää Suomea maaliskuun alussa ja julkaisee uuden ”Nexus” nimeä kantavan albuminsa 22. päivä maaliskuuta. Kaaoszine tavoitti sähköpostin välityksellä yhtyeen kitaristin / kosketinsoittaja Olof Mörckin, joka paljasti meille viisi albumia, jotka ovat toimineet hänelle suurimpana musiikillisena vaikuttajana. Lue lisää nähdäksesi Olofin lista sekä lukeaksesi miehen kommentit albumeihin liittyen.

1. Metallica – Master of Puppets:

”A staple album for lists like this, for any self-respecting metal musician. This is what got me into metal in the first place, and I have kept returning to it ever since. A masterpiece in every sense, in both song writing and musicianship. This early thrash metal classic also served to show me how aggression could be perfectly balanced with harmony and a more quiet mood.”

2. In Flames – ”The Jester Race”:

”When In Flames’ proper sophomore album came out in -95 it really shook my world. This album featured some purely magical melodies and moods, and I had heard absolutely nothing like it before. I also remember how poorly received it was in Gothenburg at the time, since it was considered to be way to melodic and featuring to many acoustic guitars by the purists – which was close to everyone into metal. Only youngsters like I appreciated it. I find it funny how this is seen as a proper underground classic as opposed to today’s ”sell out” In Flames albums, it is ironic indeed. In Flames have always just written the music they like, and I do respect them a lot for that.”

3. Soilwork – ”Natural Born Chaos”:

”…and along came Soilwork and turned my melodic death metal world upside down. There was already a hint at their futuristic metal vision on ”Predator’s Portrait”, but ”Natural Born Chaos” went all the way, and set the bar for how a modern melodic death metal band should sound. The style presented on this album has inspired a multitude of bands, many who have reached far greater success than Soilwork themselves, especially American bands. But this album is probably my personal greatest influence in the composing of Amaranthe music.”

4. HIM – ”Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights”:

”One of the first softer metal/rock albums I got into for real – the songwriting on this album is beyond excellent, even though it lacks the heavier aspects of their earlier albums. Every song on the album contains a great chorus, great vocal lines and memorable arrangements. Although it is soft and not very metal per se, it is still very dark, and it has very much inspired me when it comes to creating a great unity of an album without fillers and unnecessary parts.”

5. Bal-Sagoth – ”Battle Magic”:

”Bal-Sagoth is a lesser known band from the UK, but they also rank as one of the greatest metal acts of all time in my book, as well as some of the metal world’s greatest composers. Their original usage of harmony, complex arrangements and highly developed instrumentation is far beyond what most of all metal bands are capable of, in my humble opinion. They have probably never served as a direct influence on any Amaranthe music – but their free spirited and original compositions, along with how very high they have set the bar quality wise for their music, have definitely inspired my to strive harder and harder for excellency in music.”
