Queensryche 2016Yhdysvaltalaisen heavy metal -yhtye Queensrychen kitaristi Michael Wilton antoi hiljattain haastattelun australialaiselle Sticks For Stones -sivustolle. Haastattelussa hän muun muassa kertoo yhtyeen aloittavan uusien kappaleiden työstämisen ensi vuoden tammikuussa.

Nykyisen neljä vuotta yhtyeessä vaikuttaneen laulajan Todd La Torren faneilta saamaan vastaanottoon liityeen Wilton sanoi:

”He seamlessly integrated into the band, fans love him, he’s the real deal, there’s no prima donna ego on-stage. It’s not an act, it’s all real. As far as the albums go people are just blown away by ”Condition Hüman” and his performance on it. We have to prove ourselves with every show and that’s what we have been doing. That’s what we’re doing, we’re getting people that haven’t seen us in a long time and are wondering what happened. They’ve had their heads on the sand or something… their jaws are dropping, it’s unbelievable after the show how many new fans we get and it’s unbelievable that its just a ’viral’ situation right now. It’s great that we get to bring a high energy version of Queensryche, just like in the good old days back to Australia.”

Kun häneltä kysyttiin, käykö yhtyeen keikoilla paljon nuoria faneja, mies vastasi:

”Yeah, since we have Parker Lundgren and Todd La Torre we have a whole contingency of new fans. By ’new fans’ I mean young fans as well, that are coming to the shows and only know us from our past two albums. It’s obviously something that we want to happen and of course we get the people that have been there since 1982 as well. People that are still coming out to support the band and see the band and are amazed to see us do the songs like we did when they were young. It’s amazing what you see at a Queensryche show right now, It’s so varied in the audience.”

Wilton avasi myös yhtyeen suunnitelmia seuraavaa albumiaan koskien:

”Well, we started [touring in support of ”Condition Hüman”] in January and we are going to December. The album’s been out six months. Generally, the record company wants a new album every year and a half to two years. So, in January, we’re gonna start writing a new record, and we do that in Seattle, where we live, so we get to be home. Keeping the family bond strong is always just as important. But, yeah, we’re busy guys; I’ve gotta say that. I mean, we’re out there with everybody else, and it’s a lot of work, it’s a lot of fun, and it’s very rewarding to see everything happening the way it is for us.”
